This past weekend, Dénia celebrated the proclamation and exaltation of Amanda Giménez and Lucía Tabernero as Fallera Mayor and Fallera Mayor Infantil of Dénia 2027 (the festival's senior and junior representatives). Both debuted their first official dress in “Pueblo de Dénia”, the exclusive design woven by Vives y Marí for the Junta Local Fallera and reserved for its highest representatives.
One design, two backgrounds
Amanda Giménez wore a narrow silk dress featuring the “Pueblo de Dénia” design on a “Gris Imperial” background. Lucía Tabernero wore the same fabric, in her case on an “Atlantis” background. A single design with two different backgrounds sets each representative apart while underlining the bond that will unite them throughout their reign.
The proclamation and exaltation officially open the road to the 2027 Fallas, in which Amanda and Lucía will lead the representation of the city's fallas. The debut of the first official dress is one of the most eagerly awaited moments of that journey. It is the first time Dénia sees its representatives in the traditional attire that will identify them throughout the year.
A design reserved for the Falleras Mayores of Dénia
“Pueblo de Dénia” is an exclusive, official design of the Junta Local Fallera of Dénia. Only the city's Falleras Mayores may wear it. This makes each corte (the length of fabric needed for a complete dress) a hallmark of the office, recognisable to anyone familiar with Dénia's Fallas.
Technically, it is a narrow silk with 16 trama (weft) colours and a gold metal thread for the ornament. Both the urdimbre (warp) and the trama are 100% natural silk. This composition ensures the feel and sheen characteristic of silk and the durability an official dress demands, as it accompanies its wearers through a full year of events.
The design's rich palette rests on backgrounds of very different character. The same motif thus takes on its own reading in each dress: more understated on the Fallera Mayor's “Gris Imperial” and with a different nuance on the Fallera Mayor Infantil's “Atlantis”.
The firm's presence
Rafa Marí attended the proclamation and exaltation on behalf of Vives y Marí. In this way, the firm accompanied the new Falleras Mayores of Dénia at the debut of their first official dress, the first of a reign that is now beginning.
