A spolín is not only a precious fabric of superior quality. It is the highest expression of Valencian textile craftsmanship and an authentic work of art. Each spolín is a unique piece, which requires hundreds of hours of work, dozens of colors and woven metals to give life to a complex and unrepeatable drawing. At the opening of the ceremony of delivery of certificates of authenticity, which accompany each espolín created by Vives and Marí, the same Don Vicente Genovés, president of the Colegio del Arte Mayor de la Seda of Valencia, reminded us that the Espolín is not only a fabric, but a symbol: A testimony of a tradition that cannot be lost.
For this same reason, every year Vives y Marí thanks its customers with a small event, which this year – due to the renovation of the palace of the College – took place in the sumptuous Stolz Hall, on the third floor of the Ateneo Mercantil de Valencia and was presented by Boro Peiró of radio Onda Cero.
AITEX, the Instituto Tecnológico Textil, internationally recognized, is responsible for the certification, studying and seeing the technical characteristics of each fabric, and issuing the certificate to which always corresponds a registration number.
This certificate was received this year by twelve falleras and falleros. To them, in this 2014, goes all the thanks for allowing the production of this special fabric never cease.
