The Colegio del Arte Mayor de la Seda de Valencia has just opened the new temporary exhibition "The Color of Valencian Silks" in which color is the protagonist. Throughout the three months of the exhibition - from May to August - the pieces on display will be changing, so each month the exhibition will be renewed presenting new pieces.
In this first month, two historical clients of our firm gave their costumes to the event, two beautiful and unique spurs that can be admired for a month in the main hall of the exhibition.
Inés Quesada García donated her black spur suit with "Alicante" pattern, while a blue spur suit with "lidón" pattern was donated by Gloria Martínez Amigó.
This third temporary exhibition offered by the Silk Museum of Valencia follows the line of previous exhibitions: the search for a link between tradition and our current society. This time color is the protagonist. The exhibition aims to pay tribute to the art of the Silk Dyers in Valencia. In ancient times dyeing was a whole trade, tradition and knowledge transmitted through the dyers, which lasted until well into the nineteenth century and was giving way to the novelties of the chemical industry.
The Color of Valencian Silks is not a collection but a wide and careful selection of pieces of different kinds and origins.
